One of the things I've been getting into lately is social media. Social media is a huge marketing opportunity for photographers(or businesses/people in general). I've had accounts for a while, Twitter and IG being my top two. I've never really tried using my personal accounts for the full social media experience. I used to use hashtags here and there, but never took it serious enough to study which ones I should be using, optimal post times, engagement practices, etc. Although, back in 2016, I started a travel photography instagram and had that going for a couple of years before stopping just out of boredom.
Now I'm picking these things back up again. Not necessarily to become instafamous, but just to see if I can do it. It's kind of fun to try new things to see if I can succeed at them. I picked up my travel IG again, as well as started a BnW IG just to have places to post that genre and have a nice grid aesthetic. As for my main account, I've started to dig into social media management. This involves all the stuff I mentioned earlier like studying engagement, hashtags, post times, etc. It's odd though because I don't like the updates that IG has done recently(Twitter is actually my favorite app), but I know I'm just a small portion and IG has such a huge audience that they've probably done their research before doing these updates.
I don't really care if I end up with 3M followers or 300, but don't get me wrong though, it'd be cool to have that recognition because my photography hustle would be booming lol. Other than that, it's just pretty fun to try and succeed. Like playing a game. I'm a UX designer now, but majoring in Marketing peaked my interest to these things.
