This was my most successful post without it being a life milestone(marriage, home buying, new job, etc). I didn't pay to promote this one either, and it had the most reach out of all my posts excluding the paid promotion experiment. This was all organic through hashtags, tagged accounts, and my own followers. I don't really know what did it. I guess it was just a random uptick of people looking at my tags. You can see that 71% of people that came across my post were not following me. Although I read that people saving your posts is huge for the algorithm.... which makes me wonder who and why people are saving my posts lol.
As for the picture itself, I think it's my favorite self portrait to date. The lighting is perfect, the bokeh is butter, depth of field is distinguished, I looked and felt good. If anything I wish I could've ironed my clothes, but this was on a whim like most of my stuff. I don't like to toot my own horn, but I really gotta say I'm proud of this one.
This post was accompanied by a Reel/Tiktok that showed me getting ready to take a picture. It was new creative way to do my self portraits while practicing video. Wish I could pin it here, but Pixieset doesn't support those platform's URLs. So check them out on my IG!
The engagement on the post was also huge. One of the standouts was someone telling me that it looked like it could be a Hallmark movie. Building off that, I created this and posted it the next day on my story to get a good laugh. Oddly enough, it gave me an idea to try out that I'm not sure will work, but we'll see! It's fun to be creative. Lately, it feels like lightbulbs are turning on all the time. I'm enjoying all of this.
This series is called Social Media Case Studies, but I don't really know if that's what I should call it anymore. I just like doing it for fun. Numbers is cool and all, but I'm only paying attention to that stuff for the case studies, to challenge myself just to see if I can succeed. Aside from that though, I make the content for myself because it's fun to be creative and positive. I like being able to bring my energy to the people I reach and put a smile on their face. I don't really care if my stuff blows up. What matters more to me is when people happen to look at my content and just feel good.
I hope my energy has rubbed off on you if you've ever come across my stuff. It makes me happy if I can make you happy.
