I know a lot of people do not like the updates happening on IG, myself included. I really liked it when it was just photo grids and nothing more. It's grown into something entirely different. It's not necessarily bad, and I started making content for the other features since I'm a powerhouse influencer now. I'm sure the updates are mandated by research and money, and the general population embraces it. However, I miss the simplicity of it. Especially as a photographer.

Today's discovery was Guides. It's basically a curated set of content that grew from self-help accounts during the beginning of the pandemic. Your'e basically given 3 options to curate upon(posts, places, and products) and write mini blogs about the subject. I took the opportunity to use a recent series of photos showcasing my new Warby Parker frames:

It's really easy to use. I just wish you had more customization. You're only able to choose cover photos from the posts you're highlighting. If it's a carousel post, you can ONLY use the first photo. The end result is a nice addition to your page:

I can't speak for the places or product options, but I plan to do a couple soon and can see myself using this to a greater extent to play this social media game. Instagram does a pretty good job of expanding its offerings in order to adapt to the ever-changing environment. It forces users to adapt too, and that's what growth is about. You have to keep up with the change around you. Even though I will use these new things, I have to say that some(like myself) wish it would go back to the old Instagram.
