My relaunch and social media marketing has done wonders for my photography. Aside from public accountability for my creativity, I've been given many opportunities to capture different groups of people. Not just family anymore either! I've had seven bookings since relaunching my site. The best part of it all is that I'm able to balance this with my day job so that I can still keep it at an enjoyable pace to avoid burnout. Although this weekend I was pretty tired.

This past weekend's sessions were back to back on Sunday morning. I do my best to get shoots scheduled at sunrise to utilize golden hour and avoid people. Especially if I have to go to DC. Aside from me trying to social distance with the pandemic, I also hate driving/parking in DC. Weekend mornings downtown are pretty barren, and beautiful. Just look at the cover photo. It's best photo of a monument I've taken.

Anyway, the first session was a for Jenny. She recently graduated from Marymount, and wanted to commemorate the occasion. I really got into directing this shoot, and felt extremely comfortable doing so. For instance, a location she wanted was the Washington Monument. I suggested we go to the Lincoln Memorial instead because we'd be able to play with the Washington Monument in the background rather than being up close with it. The session was great, and I'm really happy with how they turned out. Check out some of the B&W's:

The second session was a family session, and more specifically my own family(cousins). It was a short session, but it meant the world for it to be the last booked session of the year. They welcomed in a 4th member of their family(baby Kyomi). It's an honor to be able to do things like this. Side note: the little boy is one of my godsons. He texted me on their way to the location and said not to do it near a "symmetry" (cemetery) next time because it gives him "da creeps."

Posed portraits aren't my favorite thing to shoot creatively because I really enjoy capturing candid moments in time(duh, it's the name of my blog). However, that doesn't mean I don't not like setting them up. It's always fun to be able to get pictures of anything. If I can take a picture for you, I will take a picture for you.

We take for granted how easy it is to take photos of someone, but never take the opportunity to do so. Life is a fleeting moment, and photographs are tangible memories.
