Two weekends ago, I had a session with a couple of old friends from college, to celebrate their first set of holidays as a family. Dexter, and his wife, Keina, welcomed a beautiful baby girl, Rowyn, into the world earlier this year. It's crazy how much things change as you enter different phases in life, and yet the beautiful relationships never skip a beat. Growing up is a bittersweet feeling. Wish I could've spent more time with them and really play with Rowyn, but wanted to be safe with the pandemic.

It's much easier to shoot with people I know personally. I'm basically hanging out with them and talking them through their shots. Every now and then I think of something and direct the shot, but most of the time it's extremely organic. Like freezing those moments in time(ah? ah?). The sets of Rowyn wandering evoke that mantra the most. It's like her curiosity was captured, and symbolized into those shots. They were definitely my favorite ones.

For family shoots, if they didn't specify, I always end up asking the couples if they want some shots without their children anyway. It's not much trouble, and I really enjoy doing it while I'm there. I love seeing love in my photography.

This photoshoot was the best one I've had to date. It was organic, but I was able to direct when need be. One critique that I need to tell myself is that I take too many shots. I have a habit of using the continuous shooting function. I would do this with my EOS M because I didn't have the viewfinder, swivel screen, or focus peaking. Continous shooting allowed me to be able to pick out the best from the set in case any shots were out of focus. I need to be more patient with each shot rather than just overloading.

This was my second shoot with the RP. I don't mean to be biased towards my new set up, but the results were phenomenal RAW, and even better after editing. I feel such a huge sense of untapped potential with the RP, and I'm just getting started.
