The shots above are from a photoshoot back in 2016. I used to be the photographer for this now defunct clothing brand, Vincenza. It was fun to be a part of that team. I was on my second job out of college, still not knowing where I wanted to go in life. I was basically doing whatever I could at the time. I'm forever grateful to them for giving me that opportunity. As for the photos, they were all taken on a 22mm APS-C since that was all I had, and they included my watermark. Yuck lol.
Fast forward to this past weekend's session at the same location. I wanted to revisit my 22mm APS-C. Over the years I've grown too accustomed to my 50mm APS-C and realized that DOF and Bokeh don't always have to be prominent for a photo to be considered good. Don't get me wrong, I used the 50mm APS-C for some of the photos and it's still my favorite focal length(or 85mm full frame). I just wanted to broaden my horizon. Here are the results:
Composition and lighting are probably the two most important things in photography. I'll keep saying it. Composition and lighting are the two most important things in photography. I only say it because I'm telling it to myself. That's what made these photos turn out great(along with the two beautiful people in them!). I've always been told I had an eye for photography, and I guess you can see that from the 2016 photos. The lighting was great, and the composition was there. The difference now is that I know more than I did then, and I've honed in on my style. Which I will continue to do. I can't wait to see where it'll take me in the next 4 years.
Bonus: My favorites are always candids of moments in time. Check out the fear in his eyes:
