I took a couple of self portraits yesterday revisiting one of my first self portraits:

This was back in 2014. I remember just doing the most to practice with my recently acquired camera. If you don’t get the reference, it’s inspired by the Yonkers video. It was one of my favorites for a while, and I never thought to revisit it until now. 


Flash forward to yesterday. Over the past five years I’ve gained more experience, but lost a little bit of my creative push to just shoot. So to keep up with my recent resurgence I retook this photo:

I think the one hand is kinda metaphorical that things are getting a little easier. It’s more nonchalant. In context to the photo: more sinister than scared. A metaphorical transformation. I’m happy with it, but I wish I was able to keep the original lighting. I don’t have much physical room to work with in my bathroom and a 50 mm on APS-C. I wish I had a better angle for the smile so it looked more realistic, but at least it still looks like a tattoo.
