The new frontier
The cover photo came from the OBX night sky during a family vacation in 2018. I took a few shots, but it's been the only set of astrophotography photos I've been able to take due to light pollution in my area. I used to have this photo on all of my platforms. I thought it was cohesive branding. Things have changed since then.
Fast forward to now, I'm starting to take photography more seriously. The past few days I've been researching for a new set up, marketing myself more, scheduling shoots (safely!) and rebuilding my platforms. It's exciting to be able to consolidate my blog to my portfolio and open a print store all in one site. Although, one thing I'm not excited about is transferring my relevant Tumblr posts here.
The biggest change with this relaunch is my print shop. I never thought about selling prints, but I thought since Pixieset already had a shop feature built in, I said why not? So yeah. Check out my prints. They're mostly landscapes, but I picked certain ones from over the years that I thought would look nice as decor.
Another change is the way I'm handling my IG. I'm studying hashtags, engagement, and social media in general to take on the challenge of growing it. Just to see if I can. It's kind of fun.
For my main one, I dropped the "someprestomagic" handle and left it as my @Miguel.ablaza. It's now mainly for (mostly) self-portraits on the grid, weekly reels, and everyday stories. I also have two other accounts that are basically photo dumps for black & whites(@miggzxbnw) and travel photography(@wanderingxwondering). I just really like the grid aesthetics.
No, I don't plan to quit my day job. I'm a UX Designer if you were wondering, and I'm very happy with it. Photography just happens to be something that also makes me happy, and I want to do it justice by taking it even more serious. So I'm relaunching myself.
